Attendance

As part of the school’s commitment to creating an environment for successful learning, we place value on the importance of regular attendance at school, and punctuality.

Why Regular Attendance is so Important

Research by the Department for Education shows that there is a strong link between attainment and attendance.

Any absence affects the pattern of a child’s schooling and regular absence will seriously affect their learning. Any pupil’s absence disrupts teaching routines so may affect the learning of others in the same class. We always aim to achieve better than the local average for attendance; this is because we know that good attendance is the key to successful schooling, and we believe our pupils can be amongst the best in Oxfordshire.

For children to have ‘good’ attendance then children’s attendance should be 96%. We understand that children may fall ill and not be able to come into school and this is to be expected from time to time.

Close monitoring of each child’s attendance will be carried out and school will make contact if your child’s attendance falls close to 90% so that we can work together to improve it.
